About the USC Health Care Business Club

History

The USC Health Care Business Club was founded in the summer of 2008. The Club was a response to a perceived need. USC did not have an organization focused on the business aspect of both the health care and life science industries, which represent over 16 percent of the U.S economy and will grow to 20 percent in the next 10 years. Moreover, USC needed an organizational focus for learning about the business opportunities in health care and life sciences. With the aging of the U.S. population, health care and life sciences are clearly the most important "growth" industries in the United States. The goal was to establish a club that will educate and empower future Trojan leaders in these industries.

Description

The USC Health Care Business Club organizes professional and social activities for undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni who are interested in exploring health care and life science career opportunities, staying informed about changes in the industry, and becoming involved with other USC students and alumni. Members share their interest, knowledge, and experiences regarding current developments in and issues facing health care providers, health insurers, and pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, genomics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and medical device organizations. Guest speakers are brought in to provide expert insight on the various issues facing the health care and life science industry and career opportunities in consulting, finance, sales, marketing, business development, operations, human resources, information technology, communications, and general management as they pertain to the health care and life science sectors.
